Five Cells
It wasn't always a warehouse
First-person horror
Forty years ago the building was a research annex, and the five halls at the back were five holding cells. Now it is a warehouse, with pallet racking in everything - including the cells. You are the new night picker. Cash every night. More if you work the back. Follow the rules on the doors.

Announced. Five Cells is a first-person horror game, and development has started.
The job
You are nineteen, two months behind on rent, and the landlord has given you until Friday. An ad in the back of the paper: night picker, Five Cells Warehouse, cash every night, more if you work the back, must follow the rules on the doors. Ask for Ray.
Ray meets you, shows you the front of the job — pick, pack, ship — points at the steel door behind the office, tells you to read the rules, and clocks out. He was the last picker who worked the back. He does not go through that door any more.
Five halls, five rules
Forty years ago the site was a research annex, and the five halls at the back were five holding cells. A storage company bought it at auction and put pallet racking in everything, including the cells.
Each hall has a rule posted on its door. Torch off inside. Work by the strips. Stay in the cage until the board says otherwise. The rules are not suggestions, and nobody will tell you what happens if you break one.

How it was made
Design, writing and level layout are the developer’s. The code is written by the developer with an AI coding assistant. The sound so far is CC0 — footsteps and impacts from Kenney, room tones and fluorescent hum from Freesound — cut, band-limited and re-looped by hand; the project keeps a credits file naming every file and its source. No voice lines are recorded yet. Nothing is generated while you play.
Five Cells is made by one developer at Wickhouse Games Studio. It is single-player, with no live service, no microtransactions and no online requirement.
From the devlog
-
Five Cells: night one
The last bus leaves you at the gate. Someone answers.
-
Five Cells: the gate hall
The corridor the whole game happens off, and something in it that wasn't there before.
-
Five Cells: what is built, and what cannot hurt you yet
The announce is out. This is the part that does not fit in thirty seconds - the flat, the warehouse and the night-shift loop are built and tested; the five subjects, the Wanderer and Friday morning are not; and nothing in the game can hurt you yet.
